Before you book

Kyoto, not Sakai. Kendo Experience has two studios in Sakyo Ward, NIN Yase and NIN Kendo, and the staff message you before the 3-hour session to say which one is yours.
You forge: the raw iron glows red in the furnace, you hammer it with the instructors beside you, and after cooling, sharpening and polishing the 13-15 cm knife is yours to keep.
The studio provides the costume, a towel, water, the tools and materials, and a box and bag for the knife. You bring socks.
Children under 15 cannot take part. The work involves some danger, and the operator states the customer is responsible in the unlikely event of an injury. Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours ahead; you can reserve now and pay later.
